A Sermon on Luke 22:39-53 by Pastor Allan Santos

Introduction

Outline:

  1. Remember God’s Greatness (vv.1-6)

  2.  Recall God’s Abundant Goodness (vv.7-10)

  3. Exalt and Adore God’s Glory (vv.11-13)

  4. Recognize God’s Limitless Generosity (vv.14-21)

Life Applications:

  1. • Do not let this year (2023) passed by without acknowledging God’s faithfulness and goodness in your life. The Lord provided, healed, sustained, guarded, blessed and guided each of us this year.  These are the reasons why we are inspired, fulfilled and are at peace.  May we give God our wholehearted thanksgiving (Psalm 145:21).

  2. God's grace and goodness are promised to all especially to those who have fallen and need to be lifted. His grace is sufficient no matter what is going on in a person's life. He provides for all our needs. He comforts those who are weary. He gives help to the helpless and hope to the hopeless. May we not forget all these, even as we face future life circumstances.

  3. King David recognized God’s unlimited generosity and blessings in his life.  Jesus said in John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”  The abundant life begins with salvation from an eternity of suffering and penalty of sin (Romans 6:23). It means gaining a godly perspective, leading to a growing knowledge of God. May we be grateful to Jesus because the abundant life is always available to those who will submit, acknowledge, have faith and believe in His name.
